PRIMARY SCHOOL
PROCESS
Efficiency, meticulous attention to the territorial orography of Cavaion Veronese and control cost- saving are our essential starting points.
In an asymmetrical, sloped, and irregular plot, to dig as little as possible, we took advantage of the natural condition of the terrain and positioned the massing split in 2 volumes to better locate the main school entrance. This massing allowed the classrooms to enjoy the best view to the town and more after, to design the largest possible internal courtyard, used for external learning activities.
A key choice was to decompose the massing in smaller cubes to better integrate the large building in the urban grain of the town, while maintaining the efficiency of the school functions.
To do it, we have started planning the minimum classroom unit of 7 x 8 x 4m: the prefabricated mass timber system will be assembled on site, allowing reducing time and costs. It will also guarantees perceivable adaptability over time for expansions and contractions.
The modular cubes will be reflected in the interior spaces, creating a theme that represents the architectural language of the school at 360 degrees.
